Today as SES San Jose I attended one session discussing Link Baiting.  It was a very good session presented by a number of different people.

Link Baiting soul purpose is to generate links for a site.  The side effect is new traffic and possibly continued readership.  To generate effective link bait you want to select a focused content.  You want to try and meld together branding and viral elements.  While doing the melding you want to focus on using the keyword phrase you want to try and rank for.
